What is Apantle-Cuerpos de Agua?

Apantle-Cuerpos de Agua is an exchange of experiences and collective wisdom that addresses, in a sensitive and practical way, the conflict over access to water as a common good. Each community faces its own struggle, rethinking its relationship with water: how to protect, share, and understand it. This thirst, born of deprivation, demands imagining social, economic, aesthetic, and technological alternatives that respond to a broader, non-human "we." The objective is to share poetics of action, exploring tools and strategies to collectivize struggles for water as a principle of empowerment in the face of predatory policies. Activities are organized around three themes: water and its rituals, its cosmogonic and vital dimension; resistance and activism for its access and care; and water as a living subject, with autonomy and needs. Through art, indigenous knowledge, and activism, we are invited to rethink our relationship with water from a critical, affective, and radical perspective.

The first series of APANTLE will be held May 29 and will focus on the notion of water in local context of Mexico city. ( The following series will explore notion of water in national and global context/ Stay tuned!)

The series is organized by Amado Cabrales and Casa Ojalá. Amado Cabrales is an artist, writer and curator. He produces in specific contexts through what he calls pedagogical-poetic strategies and his relationships with sentient beings and materials.
