Campamento Mar Blanco
El despojo impulsado por el cartel inmobiliario, de la mano de funcionarios del Estado que, en vez de servir a las personas se sirven de las personas, tiene como consecuencia desalojo tras desalojo en la ciudad. A los residentes de Mar Blanco, les sacaron de su hogar a punta de armas y aún así, la lucha desde los campamentos continúa y está andando, ojalá, en camino a la victoria. La lucha se extiende a otros barrios, como aquel donde está El Parián, cuyos relatos se cuentan en el libro “Un Elefante Verde en el Barrio” o a otros campamentos en la ciudad, como el de República de Cuba 11, presentes en el evento en solidaridad. La economía mundial gentrificadora, que beneficia a los dueños del capital, trae despojo a cada pueblo desalojado, a veces migrante, e incluso hasta Palestina. Como mencionaron quienes estuvieron presentes frente al Árbol de la Noche Victoriosa (compañeres del Frente Antigentrificación CDMX @luistua_ @antigentrificacion.cdmx , Radio Nopal @marviajaycome @radionopal , Casa Ojalá @katayoun.vaziri @ojala.ojala.mx , periodistas @estenoesartur e integrantes del Barrio San Lucas @lau_freyjo ), sí es posible lograr cambios y combatir las narrativas extractivistas, de criminalización y xenofobia, a través de las alianzas con colectivos mediáticos y el periodismo crítico, con movilizaciones, militancias anticapitalistas y las luchas de los barrios para los barrios. Se puede combatir la falsa legalidad de los actos de despojo, buscar cambios en leyes (como el caso de la de las 40 horas laborales), bloquear vías y arterías de la ciudad que fluyen con capital y sangre, y también, se puede bailar al ritmo de Nawal del Arrabal @nawaldelarrabal. This has been an experience of encountering different rhythms, histories, and flavors that converge in the importance of looking at one another, seeing the past, and drawing lines forward. Liz Misterio @lizmisterio gave us a warm, intimate dialogue, with profound respect for the stories intersected by major geopolitical forces through a lyrical and subjective aesthetic. Lázaro J. González @lachi.glez, director of Parole (2024), curator of the Archipiélago Fílmico Festival, and resident at Casa Ojalá, shared stories from his family history, marked by migration, expectations of support, and the persistence of maintaining close contact over distance. The presence of Sofía Gallisá Muriente @hatoreina was felt at the screening of "Celaje." Sofía deeply moved us with the loss of family, territory, identity, and even archives brought about by inefficient disaster management, in a world that experiences them more frequently today. Without a doubt, the energy of Laura Batista @pyctacolors, director of @archipielagofilmico, was felt from the kitchen to the dance floor. Her seasoning delighted us with okra, viandas, and the connection of all these desires to find ourselves looking at Absence and the islands that repeat themselves. We also had “Cuidado con el diablo,” the mezcal by @arellaneshugo that warmed us up from the rain that covered us with “elephant farts,” the Persian name for popcorn that couldn't be missing on a movie night.

El sábado 6 de diciembre fue el cierre del primer ciclo del Semillero Anticapitalista, una iniciativa de la Red Universitaria Anticapitalista (@mxlacomuna). En esta última sesión hablamos sobre el papel que las artes y las ciencias tienen en la lucha anticapitalista como prácticas que se construyen “leyendo en la mirada, estudiando en la escucha”. A lo largo de 5 sesiones nos acercamos al pensamiento zapatista, conocimos un poco de la historia del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional y discutimos acerca de esos futuros posibles que juntxs imaginamos y vamos construyendo. Ah claro sí, podría ser así mejor : Este Semillero Anticapitalista fue posible gracias a la colaboración de la RUA @mxlacomuna con Casa Samir @otomirebelde y Casa Ojalá. Este sábado tuvimos la tercera sesión del Semillero Anticapitalista en Casa Ojalá. En esta sesión, titulada _Anticapitalistas ante la guerra_ nos dividimos en grupos para reflexionar sobre el texto “La cuarta guerra mundial” escrito por el Subcomandante Marcos en 1999. En la conversación nos preguntamos cuáles son las características que definen una guerra y si podemos hablar de que hoy en día estamos viviendo una quinta guerra mundial. Surgieron temas como redes sociales, algoritmos, feminicidios, extractivismo, destrucción de la naturaleza, etc. Hicimos énfasis en como el capital busca homogeneizar para dominar. Plasmamos estas reflexiones en cartografías colectivas, en las que dibujamos mapas de cuerpos-territorios, árbol-persona, cerebro-mundo atravesados por despojos y esperanzas.
Mujer Vida Libertad y Resistencia; mujeres y luchas armadas

celebramos el tercer aniversario del Movimiento Mujer Vida Libertad, reflexionando acerca de la participación de las mujeres en luchas armadas. Primero, Alex Shams @alex_shams habló de la larga lucha de lxs iraníes por la libertad y de las resistencias hermanas a las dictaduras domésticas y el imperialismo global. Después, el músico Mehdi Moshtagh tocó varias piezas en honor a lxs niñxs asesinadxs durante el Movimiento. Luego se entretejieron las palabras de tres mujeres: Shekoufeh Mohammadi compartió una breve biografía de la primera mujer guerrillera de Irán, Purán Bazargán, y compartió reflexiones acerca de los desafíos y las oportunidades que suponía la lucha armada para mujeres iraníes en las décadas de los 60 y 80. Pilar Calveiro analizó los movimientos armados de América Latina como una reacción necesaria a la violencia ejercida por los estados y señaló que la única manera de acabar con la reproducción del espiral de violencia es la lucha armada defensiva, como la que realizan algunas comunidades y les permite proteger lo que están construyendo. Finalmente, Itza Amanda Varela compartió algunas experiencias de las mujeres de su familia, partícipes de movimientos armados en México, y reflexionó sobre sus miedos, sacrificios y valentía. Puso sobre la mesa la problemática del patriarcado en las organizaciones armadas de izquierda en el México de los años 60-80 y pensó en voz alta sobre las políticas del cuidado y las perspectivas interseccionales. Casa Ojalá recibió a estudiantes de Standford University para un taller de 1 día como parte de su viaje de verano en Ciudad de México. El taller “Sintiendo lo Desconocido” estuvo enfocado en el dibujo experimental como una herramienta para navegar lo desconocido, explorar un nuevo contexto, país, situación. Cómo podemos observar atentamente, abriendo nuevas posibilidades y al mismo tiempo siendo éticamente responsables. El taller fue impartido por Katayoun Vaziri @katayoun.vaziri de Casa Ojalá y Brenda Martínez de Ávila @bchoclit . Agradecemos a Lochlann Jain @bigluckvan y a todxs los estudiantes por ayudarnos a construir juntxs un espacio divertido, vulnerable y seguro para la experimentación.

En la primera sesión del Semillero Anticapitalista, nos hemos reunido con la RUA @mxlacomuna en Casa Ojalá, con un cuaderno de tres textos del EZLN – La Sexta Declaración de la Selva Lacandona (2006), De la política (2007), y La Declaración por la vida (2021). Hemos empezado con una breve reflexión sobre el Zapatismo desde 1994 y los acuerdos de San Andrés, hasta el presente en la lucha de un pluralismo de resistencias contra la hidra capitalista. Las discusiones empezaron con una reflexión sobre lo que es el capitalismo hoy, cómo y por qué funciona como un sistema de muerte en nuestra vida cotidiana. Haciendo eco del análisis del EZLN y las 4 ruedas del capitalismo (Explotación, Despojo, Represión, Desprecio), las discusiones giraron en torno a temas como: capitalismo como una sistema cuyo movimiento principal es siempre hacia la acumulación, y en el camino mata las relaciones sociales, y la vida orgánica en general, presumiendo un mundo inagotable para la extracción, para convertir en mercancía. El capitalismo se vive de distintas maneras en diferentes comunidades, así que no puede ser sólo una cosa, y a pesar de su pretensiones no es totalizante – hay otros espacios, hay fragilidades y grietas y por eso también hay una gama enorme de resistencias y militancias. Terminamos la sesión 1, recordando a Palestina en nuestra lucha contra el capitalismo. Al final celebramos lo que es el 8vo aniversario de RUA! Felicidades. 🎉🐌

Many thanks to everyone who made Apantle Cuerpos de Agua CDMX a space for encounter, dialogue, inspiration, and questions about how to move forward in the defense of water. From the sound experiences presented by Panósmico and Isla Urbana, to the urgent call-to-action cases from Cooperativa Acción Comunitaria and Frente Anahuác. Bea Millón's performance at the historic Vizcaínas fountain, which opened its doors to us, connected and moved us. We also enjoyed delicious self-made coffee from El Ombligo and some tacos with pulque from Laguna Seca. On July 25, we gathered at Casa Ojalá for an encounter of the Afro-Caribbean queer diaspora in Mexico. The lip-sync in honor of Bola de Nieve, performed by Tito Mitjans with a sunflower in hand, merged with the poetry of Odette Alonso and the reflection on how, even in Spanish, Cuban words had no equivalent in Mexico, or were even the opposite. So, for whom would music, dance, the written word have meaning? Adonis S. Cervera shared a reflection on the Regla de Ocha, the historical ties with Mexico, and the ways in which Mexicans have appropriated it. Isabel de León reminded us of some Afro-Caribbean figures living in Mexico who had a hiatus in Mexican intellectual history, sometimes denying and sometimes reclaiming the regional ties. The conversation shed light on what is evident every day but which we don't always know how to see, name, and recognize. And with so much energy moving, Lia's performance helped us channel it toward the people and lives who daily seek to put down roots with memory. We feasted on mixiotes, mushroom tamales, and charro beans from Xaneri Damian and Mrs. Josefa. At least one dish was served with yogurt to evoke Persian fusion. Hugo Arellane's mezcal led us to dance and enjoy the Afro-Caribbean historical archive photos.
During the attacks on Iran in June 2025, Casa Ojalá, together with Mujeres de la Sexta, convened this online conversation with Alex Shams (journalist and anthropologist) and Ghazal Ghazi (poet and librarian). The dialogue and reflection were structured around three statements written by different groups regarding Israel's military attack on Iran. These were: the Workers' Declaration, the Baloch Women's Movement Declaration, and the Declaration of Four Evin Political Prisoners. This conversation addresses the questions: How did the attack begin? What will happen to the freedom movements in Iran? Casa Ojalá supported Silvana Hurtado Dianderas during her residency in Mexico City, where she began the project Embodied Resonances. This work was first shown during the Open Studio from May 15 to 17, 2025, in Roa. These photos show a fragment of that day and the collaborative process that made it possible. The project explored self-regulation through body sound, embodied in an interactive ceramic installation. The pieces were developed with Nicola Matthews, Andrés Aburto De La Fuente, and Juan Pablo Martín Schettino, who collaborated based on their experiences as individuals on the autism spectrum. A thousand thanks to all the people who made this project possible in Mexico City. Silvana was assisted by artistic advisor Jo Ying Peng and supported by the Casa Ojalá team: Katayoun Vaziri, Abou Farman, and LauFrey. She received therapeutic guidance from Kimia Tehrami and Jurrian Hansink. The ceramic production was supported by Itze Roa Mendoza (Roa Ceramic Studio, Mexico City), Daniela Súchil Chávez, and Osvaldo Padrón. The graphic design was done by Valeria Tenaud, and the metalwork was done by Ricardo Ángeles Reyes. We also thank Dr. Carmen Amezcua and Otea A.C. for facilitating contact with the collaborators. This event was a sonic journey through the streets of Cairo and Mexico City! Our resident Dalia Ibraheem and filmmaker Joyce García @morenastyy took us on an exploration of the history and present of the mahragaanat and sonidero music scenes in these two major capitals of the Global South. Through the street rhythms of these genres and their presence in alternative spaces, we learned more about how rhythm, sound, and dance can function as dissident expression for communities in marginalized urban areas who are confronted with state logics of incarceration and police repression. With the help of @saboratorio_, our palates experienced the intoxicating flavors of Chaat-i-locos, a combination of Indian chaat and Mexican dorilocos. Thank you to everyone who came and helped make this event possible!

From Milpa Alta, here in Mexico City, to the urban milpa in Oaxaca, we gathered this February 23rd at Casa Ojalá to talk about corn, milpa, and support plans and networks against the capitalist imposition of monocultures. Moderated by Isabel Deheza and Gustavo A. Cruz Cerna, @mujer_esdelatierra focused on critiquing the means the capitalist system uses to force those of us who come to cities to do so under the belief of the "American Dream," which is not only observed in the United States but also in the capitals. The discussion focused on how these consumerist and waste-use practices affect our territories daily, affecting nature, our thoughts, and the way we connect with our land. With permission from the Assembly, Edith Morales @edithmorales_art read the powerful statement from the State Space for the Defense of Corn, criticizing state policies. Angélica and Fernando Palma @calpulli.tecalco spoke about the power of corn in their project in Milpa Alta and the power of Nahuatl as a linguistic cosmology to guide us toward possible futures. We were fortunate to have Conuco @conuco_mx and their books with us. Mujeres de la tierra also fed us delicious gorditas, tamales, and tlacoyos. Our Legaia colleagues @legadogaia built a map of ideas and communities around corn. We hope this meeting is the beginning of many more for the defense of Mexico's biodiversity.
